Our last major achievement (other than moving in all our stuff from the old farm house) was to build the (tongue-and-groove) bedroom wall. This is even easier than putting down flooring and went very quickly, but that was mainly due to some painstaking preparation by Ushikoshi-san, the carpenter, who sawed and chiselled out vertical slots in the log wall, so that the ends of the tongue-and-groove are actually recessed into the exterior walls, providing a "sealed" finish where the chamfered tops and bottoms of the logs would otherwise leave unsightly gaps between the external and internal walls.
